Welcome to the Incorporation Study for Clearwater

The unincorporated community of Clearwater, through the MLA for Kamloops North Thompson and Regional District Directors, have indicated support for an examination of the implications of municipal incorporation. A study was completed approximately five years ago for Clearwater. Incorporation was subsequently defeated in referendum.

Some residents of Clearwater support another examination due to changes in potential revenues, desire for local control and issues around new drinking water and waste disposal regulations.

Purpose of Committee

The incorporation study committee is to:

select the consultant and ensure the terms of the contract are fulfilled

bullet

decide from the study findings whether there should be a vote on incorporation.

All information found in the study will be published and forums held during and after the study so that the people of Clearwater have access to the research and analysis on the implications of incorporation.

Objective of Committee

The objective of the incorporation study process is to provide local citizens with complete and accurate information to allow citizens to make an informed decision on referendum day should a referendum be held). The committee is neutral on the question of incorporation and their sole role is to seek the required information for citizens.

Volunteers

The people on the committee are all volunteers. They are working hard on your behalf to provide complete and accurate information.
